The «Ukrainian Junior Water Prize» is the national round of the international competition «Stockholm Junior Water Prize». This competition as a popular part of the World Water Week is organized annually by Stockholm International Water Institute under the auspices of the Swedish Royal Family since 1997. The competition attracts thousands of entries from almost 40 countries.

In Ukraine this event takes place since 2004 and for this period more than 1500 water research projects were attracted. 17 winners of the national stage had the honor to represent Ukraine at the international finals of the Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) in Stockholm.

The main criteria for research projects - the independence and the depth of research,the novelty of the proposed technical solution

The winner of the international final receives an award $ 15,000, a blue crystal drop and a diploma from the hands Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess of Sweden Victoria, which has been sponsoring the competition since its inception.
This is a kind of Nobel Prize for young water researchers.

The main goal of the competition is to attract youth to solve the problems of water pollution, lack of drinking water, its rational use, combining intellectual and creative abilities of young people to develop innovative solutions to current and future water problems. Ukrainian Junior Water Prize is a competition for students aged 15 to 20 who have developed school projects that can help solve major water challenges.
